Make Sure Your Vehicle is Ready for Spring

Spring is here and you’ll be as glad as we are that the cold and wet weather is nearly over. The colourful flowers are blooming and the sun is starting to make an appearance again.

The longer daylight hours and lovely air may mean you want to go on more road trips and day’s out with the family. Of course, this involves taking the car.

If you’re like most people in the UK, you’ve probably forgotten about car maintenance during the winter. Don’t worry, we all do it! The most important thing is that you now make sure your vehicle is ready for the spring so that nothing goes wrong.

Let’s take a look at how you can maintain your car for the spring.

It Is Time for a Spring Clean

After the long winter, it’s time to spring clean your car. It’s probably covered in lots of salt and grime from the road and it could do with a deep clean to get rid of all this dirt. Of course, this is not to just to make your car look good. It’s actually because this dirt can cause scratches and chip away at your paintwork. It can even cause your vehicle to start rusting if it’s not cleaned away.

So, it’s time to get the bucket and car cleaning products out again. A pressure washer may also be the most efficient way to get rid of all the dirt.

Replace Your Tyres

During the winter, it’s always recommended for your car to have winter tyres to deal with the bad weather. But now that spring is here, it’s time to have your regular tyres attached again. This is something that is quick and easy and we’ll happily do for you at EAC Telford.

Be sure to check the tyre pressure is at the correct level, and examine the tread to make sure they are within the legal limits. This will make sure that you and your family are safe on the road. In addition,

Look at the Wipers and Washer Fluids

Have you ever heard of the saying, ‘April Showers?’ Well, you’re going to need your windshield wipers to deal with this. After the bad weather in the winter, it’s always best to check their condition. If you find that your glass is still dirty and leaving streaks after using your wipers, it might be time to get some new ones.

In particular, the bugs can be a problem during the spring and it’s common for them to get stuck to your windshield. So, you’re going to need washer fluids to help improve visibility while driving. Make sure you top up before you hit the road.

Have the Brakes Tested

The winter months really tests your brakes. So, when it’s springtime again, it’s best to have your car serviced. You want to make sure that your brakes are the best they can be for you and your family’s safety. In particular, if you hear squeaking or grinding noises, this could indicate you’ve got an issue with your brakes. It’s always best to get them checked out by an experienced mechanic.

Arrange an Air Conditioning Service

Once the weather gets warmer in the spring, you’re going to need your air conditioning. The chances are you won’t have used your air conditioning during the winter. This might mean that you have problems when you switch it on again.

You may notice a bad odour or even noises when it’s on. The best way to prevent this from happening in the future is to run your air conditioning during the winter at least once per week. But if you notice these problems now, it’ll be time to book an air conditioning service.

The reason for a lot of problems with your system is that mould or bacteria has had the opportunity to grow. In order to fix this, you’ll need a professional to clean out your air conditioning system and treat it with the right products.

In addition, the pollen filters should be cleaned to get rid of all the dust and dirt that has gathered. This can help if you suffer from allergies, especially during the spring. If you find water connected with your air conditioning, this might indicate that there is a blocked tube on the evaporator.

It’s also important to remember that the lubricant for the air conditioning system should be replaced every two years. This is going to keep the system working at its best for the spring.

If you have problems with your air conditioning or want to get the system up and running again for the spring without any issues, you can choose an air conditioning service. At EAC Telford our experienced technicians will inspect your air conditioning system, ensure the system cleans, dries and cools the air just when you need it most.
